Privacy Policy

The short version

Your notes, todos, and reminders are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, they are also stored in your own private iCloud account — we operate no servers of our own and cannot read them. The app also sends anonymous usage analytics, which never include the contents of your notes and are not tied to your name, email, or Apple Account. You can turn analytics off in the app's Settings, and you can turn iCloud sync off at any time.

Who we are

Supernote (bundle ID org.redible.supernote) is an app for iPhone and iPad developed and published by Redible. You can reach us at [email protected].

What data we collect

Supernote has no user accounts and no login, and we run no servers of our own. We do not collect your name, email address, contact details, or the contents of your notes, todos, or reminders, and we have no technical means of reading them.

Through our analytics processor we collect two categories of data, which correspond to the entries on our App Store privacy label:

• Product Interaction — anonymous events describing how the app is used, such as which screens are opened, which features are used, and app, device model, and OS version.
• Device ID — a salted, one-way hash of the Apple-provided vendor identifier, used only to tell one anonymous install from another so that repeat usage is not double-counted.

Both are collected for analytics only. Neither is used for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps and websites, neither is sold, and neither is linked to your identity. Both are described in detail under Anonymous usage analytics below, and both stop being collected entirely when you switch analytics off.

Where your data lives

Your notes, todos, and reminders are created and stored on your device in a local SQLite database. If you turn on iCloud sync, a copy is also stored in your private iCloud account, under your control (see below). Analytics events are the only other data the app sends anywhere, and they are held by our analytics processor, not by us, on servers in the European Union.

Deleting the app removes the local copy from that device. If iCloud sync is on, your notes remain in your iCloud account until you delete them there, so we still recommend keeping your own device backups if your notes matter to you.

iCloud sync

Since version 2.1.0, Supernote can sync your notes, todos, and reminders between your own devices using Apple's iCloud. Sync is optional and is controlled by you.

When it is on, your data is stored in the private area of your own iCloud account, tied to your Apple Account — not on any server operated by Redible. We cannot see it, cannot access it, and receive no copy of it. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

You can turn sync off in the app's Settings at any time. Turning it off stops further syncing but does not by itself remove data already stored in iCloud; you can review and delete that from iOS Settings under your name → iCloud, or by deleting the app's iCloud data from your account.

Anonymous usage analytics

Starting with version 2.2.0, Supernote reports anonymous usage analytics so we can see which features are actually used and where the app is going wrong. This is the Product Interaction and Device ID data described above.

Analytics are processed on our behalf by TelemetryDeck (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany), acting as our data processor. Signals are transmitted over an encrypted connection and are processed and stored on servers located in the European Union. TelemetryDeck does not sell this data and does not use it for advertising.

Events describe app usage only — which screens are opened, which features are used, and technical context such as app version, device model, and OS version. They never contain the contents of your notes, todos, or reminders, and they never contain your name, email address, Apple Account, IP-based location, or advertising identifier.

Each event carries an identifier that is derived on your device: the app takes Apple's per-vendor device identifier (identifierForVendor), combines it with a salt, and hashes it one way before anything is sent. Only that hash leaves your device. The raw vendor identifier is never transmitted, the hash cannot be reversed back to it, and the identifier is specific to Supernote — it cannot be matched to you or to your activity in any other developer's apps. It resets if you delete and reinstall the app.

You can switch this off. The app's Settings include an Anonymous Analytics toggle; when it is off, no analytics signals are sent at all — including the Device ID hash.

Network and sharing behavior

Supernote connects to the network in three situations:

• iCloud sync, when you have turned it on — data goes to your own iCloud account via Apple.
• Anonymous usage analytics, when they are turned on — events go to our analytics processor in the EU, as described above.
• Actions you start yourself — the iOS system share sheet and a mailto: link to contact us. These happen only when you initiate them, and anything shared that way is handled by the app or service you choose (for example, your mail app), under that service's own privacy policy.

There are no other network connections: no advertising SDKs, no third-party trackers, and no servers operated by us for the app to talk to.

Children's privacy

Supernote is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The app has no accounts and no place to enter a name, email address, or other identifying information, and the analytics described above are anonymous, are not used to build profiles, and are never used for advertising.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us at [email protected] and we will look into it and delete whatever we can identify.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
